I was just re-reading John Micahel Greer's book : Not The Future We Ordered.
Here are some great quotes!
~ to question the civil religion of Progress is to abandon a core source of meaning and justification of modern life.
I am, and remain GUILTY, as charged.
As for some of the rest of you
~ Today's believers in the civil religion of progress are, by and large, commited to a set of beliefs that place them in unavoidable conflict with REALITY.
He goes on to describe the double bind of Progress:
~ The cognitive dissonance between the belief in PROGRESS and the experience of REGRESS will thus result in some remarkable irrationalities and INDEED a case could be made that it has already done so.
